Couple Therapy
Couple therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on helping individuals and their relationships to reach their full potential. It aims to help couples rediscover what brought them together and reignite the energy, enthusiasm, and connection that they once had. Couples can work towards a stronger, healthier relationship by addressing communication blockages and fostering compassion.
Marriage therapy is designed to help couples of all types recognize and resolve conflicts and improve their relationships. Whether you are experiencing communication problems, sexual difficulties, conflicts about child-rearing or blended families, substance abuse, anger, or infidelity, couple therapy can help. It is suitable for couples of all sexual orientations and marital statuses.
In couples therapy, the emphasis is on emotional and communication aspects, working on speaking and listening skills, and fostering emotional honesty and open sharing of feelings.
As a therapist, my role is to provide a neutral and safe space for both individuals to become aware of their own feelings and needs, and those of their partner. I strive to be non-judgmental and to support both individuals in the process of working towards a stronger and more fulfilling relationship.

When should you go to couples therapy
Communication difficulties are a common concern among couples seeking therapy. Many couples find themselves in a pattern of recurring arguments and conflicts that seems never-ending. Others may feel stuck in their lives, unsure of how to move forward and this is often reflected in their relationship. Some couples report feeling a lack of connection or disconnection with their partner, which can be distressing.
Several signs that can help you to understand that it is time for the couple to see a professional therapist are:
Emotional disconnection
Having the same fights without being able to resolve them
Lack of sexual intimacy
Unhealthy habits
Feeling unsupported and disconnected
Betrayal
Abuse
Recurring anxiety and depression
Lack of trust towards your partner
A professional couple therapist can be a valuable resource for couples seeking to improve their relationship. Through therapy, couples can gain insight into what is causing difficulties in their relationship and can develop new strategies for addressing these issues. However, it's important to note that not all relationships can be saved. Sometimes, despite the best efforts of both partners, the relationship may have reached a point of no return. In these cases, therapy can still be beneficial in helping couples navigate the process of separation and move forward in a healthy and respectful manner.
How long should couples therapy last
As an English-speaking therapist in Prague (I also offer therapy in Italian and Spanish), I offer a comprehensive and personalized approach to couple therapy. The process begins with an initial phone assessment with both partners, during which we will discuss the current state of the relationship and the specific needs of the couple. Following this, we will schedule an appointment for our first session, which will allow us to gain a deeper understanding of the couple's situation and determine if we are a good fit for one another.
I typically suggest a commitment of 6 sessions, meeting once a week. This allows us to establish a strong therapeutic alliance, which is a crucial tool in the therapeutic process. However, the number of sessions required can vary depending on the specific needs of the couple. Some couples may only require short-term therapy (6-12 sessions), while others may require long-term support. Ultimately, the decision on the duration and frequency of therapy is made in collaboration with the couple, as it is important for both partners to be invested in the process for it to be successful.
Also, by providing therapy in Italian and Spanish, I strive to make couple therapy accessible to a wider range of couples, regardless of their primary language.
